With over thirty years of technology development in the heart of Silicon Valley as both an individual contributor and leader- in startups and industry giants, Emilio brings a unique set of experiences and perspectives to the coaching enterprise. Equally important is his experience in personal growth work, struggling with the ramifications of his own work/life conflicts, and his training and experience as a coach in the support of leaders in these volatile times. Quite simply, he brings a whole life experience into the domain, putting him in a position to relate to and understand the unique stresses and demands on leaders in a high-tech enterprise.
After a 30-year engineering career that included such luminaries as Google, Adobe, and Convergent Technologies, as well as startups like Dotcast, ICTV, Nellcor, and Power TV, Emilio launched his coaching career working with Silicon Valley leaders from individual contributors to Vice Presidents, and “C” suite executives, across functions ranging from engineering, sales, and marketing to finance.
An intuitive yet pragmatic and action-oriented coach, Emilio brings his strong analytical skills along with his keen awareness of the value of human effort to the table in all his efforts. The result is evident as his clients and their teams reach new levels of long-term performance in life-changing ways!
I am a first-generation American, the first person in my family to graduate from college, and a certified co-active coach. I have over 30 years of experience in software development and over 30 years of experience in men’s work and personal therapy. I am also a volunteer with Veterans-Healing-Veterans, where I helped steer the organization in its early days, trained facilitators, and started a program in a second prison. I have also volunteered over 250 hours on a Suicide and Crisis Line.
I am proud of my accomplishments, but I am also aware of my failures. I have been married three times, and each marriage has been both a failure and a success. I have left several companies early because I was too impatient, insubordinate, or careless. I have profited from several IPOs and buyouts, but I have never been rich.
Despite my failures, I am a hopeful person. I believe that everyone has the potential to change and grow. I know what it takes to change because I have done it myself. I have overcome a learning disability, come from a broken alcoholic family, and barely passed high school. I am proof that anything is possible.
